Hello friends.

I  have been experimenting with 20-gauge wire cages to use with lever-back earrings to make button earrings that stay up high on the ear. It's been really fun. If anyone has suggestions, please let us know. I used it on Czech glass turtles for my granddaughter. There would be endless applications here. Holding the weight of the glass is challenging. It's wire wrapping first, then encasing the piece to use. Pearls would be pretty this way too.

Next Class in May

Hi everyone!  Class finished with real stars!  The whole experience was great fun for all and we can all remember no mistakes, save it for another day, and at the end of a long day, sometimes our best work can be done.  Certainly jewelry is relaxing and a great help to a wardrobe needing just  a little more color, or stepped up earrings.

Just keep the 20 gauge wire, a pair of pliers, and some nice beads around for a quick fix.

It is definitely my hobby of choice along with sewing.  It is a time I never watch the clock or worry about tomorrow or yesterday.  The job at hand is enough.  Thank you all.  I enjoyed the class tremendously and look forword to the next class, which is a chance to work together, update ideas, and share new projects.

I will continue to blog now that there is even more time.  I would like to mention that Hobby Lobby's expansion will give us even more to use for inspiration.  To the class, thank you.  You all put your best work into the time we had.  Sincerely, Chris

Fourth NWACC Class Coming Up

This is a lapis ring that someone posted on the Net.

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!  Dark Star Visuals was extremely inspiring. I made a new set of lapis my favorite of all time.

Class was so fun last week.  This week, weather permitting, we'll take photos of all of our favorite jewelry.  Please wear favorites this week.  I have so enjoyed every minute; it's hard to believe four weeks have passed.

In May we begin again. There are so many  new conquests in creative jewelry.  I've found a new way to make stud earrings in a minute and a half.  I can't believe it after 6 years there are always surprises. I can't wait to see you all on Wednesday.

The old Navy joke is, "Flogging will continue until morale improves."

Blogging will continue.

These creations are at Bella Vista Antique Mall and Flea Market.

Northwest Arkansas Community College Jewelry Class:
Getting Things Done

Nothing like admiring a new creation.  Chains embellished become a beautiful new article to wear, home even!

A collection of jewelry to work with to wear in the coming days.  From pearls to pendants to add to chains, we have a lot of variety--and we made it ourselves, even some of the findings.

Observation of progress.  Everyone can feel the pride we feel as we make new pieces and imagine more to make.  The addition of a few beads can make such a change!  Teacher gets new ideas too.  The tigers eye I am wearing even includes antique pieces originally given to me by my mother in law.  Age in stones is no problem, and often adds just the touch.

Tamara, a beautician is an expert at gluing, and shows pendants she has secured, and earrings that used to be buttons, with glued on backs.  Jewelry is such fun!  We use all our imagination and experience to renew pieces old fashioned--to make them one of our new favorite go to pieces.

Class will last two more weeks, but new ideas will keep us fueled for a long time. Next class will be rings and more complicated 3 or 4 tiered necklaces and earrings to match. This will be the class to showcase our favorites. Name cards should be made creatively to show our best work for pictures to be taken just before noon by Gregg our photographer. The advantage of a large class is to showcase ideas for everyone to transform into items for their own wardrobe.
